I had the good fortune of starting my 4th of July by hanging out with my friend Jessica and her pup at a nature preserve. Ever since I met Jessica some 15+ years ago I wanted to take her picture. She had a timeless quality to her that grabbed my attention even before photography was a part of my life. I smiled when she told me that she doesn’t photograph well or have many pictures of her. I felt it was my duty to fix that.

We had a gorgeous day, filled with bright blue skies, rolling hills and a very refreshing river. At the end of the day I was able to show her how the rest of us see her and as a bonus… I had a completely worn out and exhausted dog. Win/Win!

I hope you all had a wonderful, safe 4th of July with a lot of laughs, good friends and family and great food! So many great things are coming up quickly here. Stay tuned!

What can I say about Kennia and Mike?

So.Much.Fun!!

Some couples just belong together and it’s apparent. These two have it! They’re getting married in Brazil (which is just pretty cool!) but needed some engagement photos for the reception. We were shooting for 25 and ended up with over 100! They were so fun and and so easy to shoot. I pictured Mike as the adventurer from the pre-shoot photos I saw of him but it was Kennia who did some skydiving. I’ll admit it… I was impressed. The only way that Mike and I are skydiving is if the plane is on fire and going down. On that we agree.

Longwood Gardens was the perfect setting for these two. Their personalities were so colorful and refreshing, much like the location.

They discovered the fountains which were perfect for this near 100º day. Even in the water they still sizzled.

Next stop… Brazil for the wedding!

(sadly, I’m not shooting it but hey… Jami and I aren’t opposed to destination weddings…hint hint)

The wedding of David Bitterman and Heather Little

Saturday was such an excellent day for the wedding of Heather and David! It was held at the Country Barn in Lancaster. The night before it was hot and stormy, but when Saturday morning rolled around it was nothing but bright sun and blue skies. It was such a pleasure to spend time with them as they were so happy and upbeat the entire day. The love between them was apparent from the start and they just told us to do what we do best and I think it shows in the photos.

Heather was completely adorable and David had a quiet strength about him. They complimented each other so well and the locations they chose were a dream. When we were walking up to the barn, smoke billowed past us and the smell of some amazing grilled cooking mesmerized me. I remarked “That’s just not right! We’re working and that smells so good!!” but it turned out that they were cooking the food for the dinner and we were seated at table 11 and got to enjoy it as well!

Heather and David left it in our hands to capture their day, were willing to do what we suggested and had some really cool ideas as well that turned out great if I do say so myself. Here’s a sneak peek of their gallery. Hope you enjoy them as much as we did!

In addition to the wonderful couple, wedding party and guests were the most adorable kids who all seemed to be into the day as well.

and then there were the guys… willing to pose and just take the whole day in with the joy and laughter that it’s supposed to be filled with. I don’t think we had to say “Can you guys….” at all. They were all so willing to have fun with us and our cameras and that makes for a fun day of shooting!

The wedding of Jenny Beach and Jeffrey Carlo

Jami and I traveled to Wilkes-Barre, PA to shoot the wedding of Jenny Beach and Jeffrey Carlo. This was our second wedding in the area, the first one being the wedding of Oliver and Lizelle. It was a bright, sunny day which helped when shooting at the waterfront. The reception was held at a Touch of Class: Catering at the Palace.

Sophie’s story

Almost a year ago to the day, I took this photo of my friend Jennifer while she was expecting her daughter Sophie. Watching the change in my friend was pretty amazing and there were many times that her eyes would well up with tears when she described just how this little miracle changed her. A year later, the tears of joy were replaced with tears of fear as their beautiful daughter was diagnosed with ALL – Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

My friends are going through an unimaginably difficult time right now and need all of the help that they can get. Please follow the link to Sophie’s Fund and help out if you can. Every little bit helps. You can buy a print or two from some really gifted photographers or if you prefer to just make a donation, either would be appreciated. Worrying about finances is the last thing they need right now.

Growth is good

I had the pleasure of meeting some new people this past weekend. One put a new camera in my hands that opened me up to even more creative possibilities, the others came out to help me break it in. Here’s a big thank you to Ron Holmes for the new camera and another thank you to Laura Hosley and Tiffany Caprice for coming out, having fun and helping me get to know my new camera. Ron, I hope the new camera treats you well and you get some killer photos.

Over the next few weeks I will be shooting non-stop, breaking in the new camera just in time for our first wedding of the season. I’m so excited about what is coming next! The prints have arrived, the new book is en route and I have shiny new gear to help me capture some once in a lifetime memories for some great couples.

My goal in 2010 is to do everything bigger, better and more creative than last year. It’s a goal I set for myself every year and hopefully it shows in the work I produce. I kicked off 2010 with a foxhunt with Priscilla Godsoe of the River Hills Foxhounds, followed up by a shoot by the always photogenic Elle. The wedding talk is already gearing up and expect some photos from some not so local destinations!

Jami and I had the pleasure of ending the wedding season with an amazingly fun couple and wedding party. I love emotional folks not only because they make the world go round, but also because they make for very moving photos. It also is nice when the wedding party is a little outgoing. This group didn’t disappoint!

Forecast this weekend called for some Slight Clutter

I’ve been really fortunate in getting to finally meet some of my oldest flickr family in the last few years. This time I finally got to meet Katya Horner (who many of you as Slight Clutter from Flickr) and Irina Souiki as you as Irina Souiki. Both were exactly who I thought they were, plus a little bit more and dinner with these folks felt like coming home. Both are talented photographers who have been right along side of me from the beginning. Watching each grow and develop into top photographers has been inspiring. After years of knowing each other online, we finally met in person and wow… it didn’t disappoint!

Everyone knows Laura (helveticaneue) and Nardell.. like Elvis or Madonna, they only need one name. Both are wickedly talented local artists and I love when we have these meet ups. No egos, just a lot of fun, laughs and camera talk…

That’s the way it should be.

We ate at the now world famous Crawdaddy’s Cafe in West Chester, PA and had a blast. You would have thought it was a warzone with all of the ducking for cover when the cameras came out, so I will resist the urge to upload more and put this one up for everyone to see.

Seven has officially given up on Raemarie and has a new love of his life in Katya. He hasn’t eaten since she left… not even a piece of steak. I think he has it bad.

I understand. I miss her!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month at Headquarters Hair Salon

I had the pleasure of documenting the Breast Cancer Awareness Month Kickoff Party at Headquarters Hair Salon, owned by Sara Grudzinski. It was a very nice turnout with some really fun people attending. I got to spend some time with old friends as well as make some new ones.
